Outdoor electricity outlets have always been very important for people to power their lawnmowers and other outdoor appliances, but thanks to the growth in the numbers of electric-powered vehicles they are more widespread now than ever before.
Because outdoor electricity outlets are, well, outdoors, the weather and therefore rain and moisture needs to be taken into more than with other outlets. To solve issues around the outlet getting clogged with water (which can not only damage the power circuits but also cause harm to users), they need to be protected from any moisture. There are a few methods for this.
Some outlets will be locked away in a box which means that they are unlikely to be exposed to rain and other potentially damaging weather conditions. Others will have the entry points sealed with foam so that anything plugged into the outlet will be stripped of moisture.
